Day 110: April 20, 2009

Question 91:
At what age do most people become old and what is the secret to staying young?

Responses:
  • I think people grow up when they have to truly deal with a painful loss – love, health, finances, etc. My opinion about the border to OLDsville, for mankind at large, has continued to move as I’ve aged, but I think individuals become old when they lose their youthful hope in people and circumstances. I’ve known a few 80+ yr olds with great attitudes, whose faces remain young and beautiful because their joy and hope are actively nurtured. I hope to have one of those faces
  • Sixty. It's just a fact. Sixty is officially old. Which is not to say that every sixty-year-old is over the hill or that younger people can't be calcified. The secret to staying young? Easy: do stuff. (get a hobby?)
  • 68. One year before they only have 1 year left before 70. Worry sets in. Staying young: keep mind active.

Song:
Did You Say Goodbye, by Brian Maddox

Lyrics:
did you say goodbye
did i say hello
before we started letting go
i'll never know
i'll never know

did you say you must
did i say i might
did we ever trust
before giving up the fight
i'll never know
i'll never know

but now all that i was hoping for
is locked behind slamming doors
what were we fighting for
i'll never be sure

did you say you win
did i say i lose
did we just give in
before we had a chance to choose
i'll never know
i'll never know

did you say i do
did i say i don't
did we have a clue
that someday we'd both say we won't
i'll never know
i'll never know

but now all that's left of you and me
is a division of property
a division of property
is that all you mean to me
