Is it more essential to develop beliefs or gain knowledge?

- I feel that it is more essential to gain knowledge than to develop beliefs because beliefs that are founded on anything but knowledge are nothing more than that. Beliefs, if held and expressed too earnestly, can be hurtful, offensive, incriminating, and just plain wrong. Beliefs backed up by knowledge are typically safer to follow and express.
- Gain knowledge to develop beliefs.
